Attentive neighbors informed the residents of the house about the heavy smoke development. As a result, the homeowner’s son – who is also an active firefighter – alerted the fire brigade emergency call and carried out initial attempts to extinguish the fire using hand-held fire extinguishers. The residents of the house were able to leave the house unharmed. Within a few minutes, the attic was fully engulfed in flames and the high flames erupted from the roof truss area. The heavy smoke development was visible around the Mondsee.

Several fire brigades were quickly on site to fight the fire and bring the situation under control. The water supply for the first tank truck could be established from the pool in the affected house. The remaining fire engines were fed by two hydrants about 250 meters away and Mondsee about 300 meters away.

Spreading to the living area was prevented by the neighbors quickly discovering the fire and the rapid intervention of the fire brigade. Around 140 emergency services from the fire brigade, Red Cross and police were deployed. The post-extinguishing work and the fire safety guard continued into the night. No one was injured, and there was significant damage to the building. The exact cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated.
