Brussels – The head of European Union (EU) diplomacy, Josep Borrell, reported yesterday that the training of Ukrainian pilots who will take command of F-16 fighter planes has already begun in Poland, the first step towards an eventual supply of these aircraft by Kiev’s Western allies.

“I am happy that pilot training for the F-16 has finally begun. It will take time, but the sooner the better,” Borrell said ahead of a meeting of EU defense ministers in Brussels.

Asked in which countries the training was taking place, Borrell replied: “For example, in Poland.”
US President Joe Biden last week authorized Ukrainian pilots to receive training with those planes.’
In Ukraine, analysts believe that, in a few months, the country will already have Western fighter planes.
