Finally the start of the mountain bike season in the Salzkammergut

Finally the start of the mountain bike season in the Salzkammergut
Pleasure tours with the Dachstein behind you

The constant rain is finally over, the last snowfields are melting on the mountains, and the official mountain bike trails are open again: Everything is geared for mountain bikers with and without an electric motor.

The inner Salzkammergut has been the undisputed mountain bike hotspot for decades – even far beyond national borders. Around 200 kilometers of approved forest roads form an 800-kilometer tour network for mountain and gravel bikers. And the tourism experts at the foot of the Dachstein are constantly expanding their range.

Lots of new routes

There are ten new gravel bike routes to discover this year. Among other things, they lead to the Traunsee, the Postalm and the Fuschlsee.
Three new trails on the Predigtstuhl expand the offer in Bad Goisern. In addition to a classic single and a shared trail, an uphill trail that was specially designed for e-mountain bikes completes the offer.

In Gosau, the popular Seekar tour has been expanded to include the new closure of the gap between the rear Grubenalm and the grindstone quarries below the Löckensee.

A total of 800 new signs along the routes ensure perfect orientation when driving – the Salzburg model was adopted for the uniform signage. It shows not only the pure marking of the routes, but also information boards such as “Slow Down Zones” in sensitive areas and information on the generally applicable “Trail Tolerance”.

The Austrian Federal Forests (ÖBf) cooperate very constructively with tourism as landowners and forest road maintainers. At the start of the season, however, they appeal to bikers for fair coexistence in the forest and compliance with the rules.

If you want to get an overview, you will find all tours on a new MTB overview map, which is available in all tourist offices. We recommend the tourism website for owners of navigation devices (whether smartphone or Garmin).
