The Communale in Peuerbach will open on Tuesday with a big birthday party in the palace gardens. After the premiere of the successor format to the state exhibition in Eferding last year, the “City of Stars” is about the “Cosmos and New Worlds”. The occasion is the 600th birthday of the small town’s great son, the astronomer Georg von Peuerbach, who paved the way for the Copernican world view.

The exhibition in the Castle Museum is open to all visitors on May 30 from 2 p.m. with free admission. On almost 600 m² you get an insight into the life of Georg von Peuerbach. It is also about superheroes in space, the race to the moon and astrophotography. A moon with a diameter of six meters occupies the inner courtyard of the castle.

Kometor is re-recorded

The cometor in the castle park, which has led a shadowy existence in recent years due to a lack of visitors, is being re-enacted. The first level of the walk-in sculpture by artist couple Manfred and Billa Hebenstreit was redesigned in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Center. During the Communale, a video installation by artist Siegfried A. Fruhauf from Heiligenberg will complement the visual world of the cometor.

The audience will have to wait until September for one of the most exciting program items. The Austrian Space Forum is training for a Mars simulation in a sand pit in Peuerbach. This is in preparation for the international Mars analogue mission AMADEE-24 at a test site in Armenia. Astronauts will test experiments and equipment including a prototype spacesuit and a Mars rover.

During the Communale, which lasts until October 26th, there is a colorful program with exhibitions, concerts, plays, dance, workshops, readings and discussions with the participation of regional and national artists. Vacancies in the city are also used.

The birthday party on May 30 starts at 5 p.m. The program includes an aerial acrobatics and light show and a concert with “Max the Sax” on the stage in the castle park. All information: communale.at
