Table tennis: Total China triumph at the World Cup in Durban

In the men’s singles final, defending champion Fan Zhendong defeated compatriot Wang Chuqin 4:2, as did top seed Sun Yingsha against compatriot Chen Meng in the women’s singles final. Fan/Wang won the men’s doubles title together on Saturday, while Chen and Wang Yidi won the women’s doubles title. In mixed, Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha remained victorious.

Sofia Polcanova achieved the best Austrian performance with the doubles quarterfinals or fifth place alongside Romanian Bernadette Szöcs – and that exactly 20 years after Werner Schlager achieved gold at the World Cup in Paris. The Lower Austrian is still the last individual world champion not to come from China.
