All were in a car that was hit head-on by a vehicle that appeared to be going in the wrong lane, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday, according to the PAP agency. The suspected cause of the accident and a 16-year-old car occupant were injured and taken to the hospital.
The dead were three men aged 19, 43 and 72 and two women aged 18 and 38. According to unconfirmed media reports, it is said to be a family who was returning from a wedding party.
The collision occurred on the national road 9 near the Boksycka commune in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship.
