“Together we are strong”: Under this motto, the charity running event “Lauf mit” from the Rotary Club Gallneukirchen – Gusental starts again on Saturday after a break due to corona.
At the 13th edition, a record sum of 7010 euros was collected for the disabled sports department of SV Gallneukirchen. In total, the format, which combines social commitment and sport, has raised more than 74,000 euros to support disabled sports over the past 15 years.
Above all, Wolfgang Greil, President of RC Gallneukirchen, and organizer Klaus Dorninger are very happy about the great success. Around 200 participants ran the two-kilometre run. There were ex-national player and coach Peter Stöger, the para-canoeist Mendy Swoboda (silver medal winner at the Paralympics) and disabled athlete Anna Sophie Friedl (four-time gold medal winner at the Virtus World Skiing Championships 2023).
The new edition after the Corona break also came up with an innovation, for example running groups were awarded for the first time. The “Kastners Beste” team, headed by market researcher David Pfarrhofer, won. Your prize: a whiskey tasting with Peter Affenzeller.
For Daniela Palk, board director of the Diakoniewerk, the event was once again a sign of active inclusion – in running as well as in preparation and celebrations.
