His fans have not yet given up the fight for the ski area on the Kasberg: the #unserKasberg initiative has collected 30,000 signatures for a petition demanding the preservation of the ski area. On Saturday, in the presence of 400 supporters, the initiators handed over their demands, including the signatures, to the President of the State Parliament, Max Hiegelsberger (VP).

As reported, the ski area on the Kasberg is on the brink of collapse because it has made losses in the past two years. Based on a recommendation by the State Audit Office, the state of Upper Austria only wants to continue its support payments if summer operation of the eight-seater gondola lift is also possible in the future. However, the landowners on the Kasberg have not yet agreed to this.

Economics and Tourism Councilor Achleitner (VP) praised the commitment of the initiative: “This commitment to the region with the Kasberg ski area is understandable and impressive.” However, the aim must be the economic independence of the company. Because there has been no movement on the part of the landowners so far, “a tourism master plan for the entire Almtal-Kasberg region is now being commissioned by the owner communities,” says the provincial councilor. The state will contribute to the costs.
