The campaign was initiated by Paul Mairleitner (Head of the HAK Ried) and Arianna Hartl (Head of the BAfEP Ried) as well as Katharina Palatzky (“Give for Life – Leukemia Aid Austria”).
Leukemia patients often depend on a stem cell donation. Since the probability of finding a suitable donor is 1:500,000, every typing in the international database has a high priority, as the initiators say. In Austria, two percent are currently typed. During the BAfEP and HAK Ried campaign, 94 typifications were carried out.
