Phillipp Mwene and his ex-club are said to have agreed on a return for a long time. On Wednesday, the German first division team announced the completion.
According to reports, 1.5 million euros are due for the defensive player. The 29-year-old had already played for Mainz from 2018 to 2021 before moving to Eindhoven.
“In Phillipp Mwene we are gaining a player who we know well and who is an excellent match for us both in terms of sport and personality, so we have worked patiently and long on this signing,” stated sporting director Christian Heidel. “There’s no need to explain Mainz 05 to Philipp – he fully identifies with the style of play here and doesn’t need any time to get used to it. With his variability and his footballing qualities, but also as a guy, he will strengthen our team in the best possible way.”
