Hermi Kürner and her Mercedes-Benz W15 are 165 years old.

ROTTENBACH. Together they bring it to 165 years, the 73-year-old Welser Hermi Kürner and her 92-year-old Mercedes-Benz W15 Type 170. The well-rehearsed team will ennoble the classic car meeting and anniversary celebration “20 years oldtimer club AMTC Rottenbach” next week. From there, the travel-loving pensioner will set off on her next 4,000-kilometer trip and say goodbye to many classic car friends. The destination is Poland, where it will travel as close as possible along the approximately 1000-kilometer-long Vistula River to the Amber Coast, returning along the Oder, Neisse and Vltava rivers.

“I drive every day, as far as I’m happy, without a navigation system, but with the map like before,” says Kürner in an interview with the Upper Austria News. The former coach operator and watercolor painter wants to be back by September 22 at the latest. Your oldie is in perfect condition and has been serviced. “I’m sure I won’t have any problems and I’ll just have to top up the oil and fill up.” Her unique vintage car swallows around eleven liters of Super plus, the last of its kind that she took to the Black Sea last year.

“We are very pleased that Hermi Kürner is starting with us, we will say goodbye to her musically,” announces Josef Schiller, chairman of the AMTC Rottenbach. The owner of several vintage cars, including a 1929 Ford A and a 1960s Puch 500, was a founding member of the vintage car club 20 years ago. 20 vehicles came to the first meeting, and Schiller expects around 800 vintage cars (cars, motorcycles, mopeds and tractors) and around 2,000 visitors at the anniversary event on September 3, weather permitting. The club now has more than 200 members from 50 communities.

80 volunteers will be on their feet over the anniversary weekend. It starts on Saturday, September 2nd at 5 a.m. with the parts market with suppliers from Germany and abroad. On Sunday, the noble vehicles are expected from 9 a.m. in the town center. Hermi Kürner will set off shortly before the start of the presentation drive for the vintage cars at 11 a.m.

Thanks to the support of sponsors, there are also 20 valuable prizes to be won on the anniversary. The main prize, a restored 18-series Steyr tractor, was made available by VTA boss Ulrich Kubinger. Visitors are catered for by the team at the Mauernböck inn and Café Heftberger.

Entry fee for the presentation drive is ten euros. A portion of the proceeds will support the fire brigade.
