Upon arrival, the police noticed a man with a dog on the bike path. He had a folding knife in his hand. A few meters away, also on the bike path, two cyclists were sitting on the Innlände. One of the bikes apparently had a punctured rear tire.
According to the police, the suspect, a 56-year-old from the Schärding district, threatened to kill the 53-year-old German citizen after the damage to the bicycle. Despite the existing ban on weapons, he is said to have put a jackknife in the woman’s neck area and also threatened her 56-year-old husband.
The Innviertler also behaved very aggressively towards the intervening officers and was eventually arrested. The 56-year-old was taken to the Ried prison by order of the Ried public prosecutor. The suspect’s dog was taken away by order of the district authority and handed over to the animal protection association.
