A “golden tree sponsorship” costs 17,000 euros. With the money, the city can unseal an area for a tree, plant the tree, and care for it for five years. In return, the sponsor receives a plaque, can look forward to a photo in a press release, as well as various entries in the tree register, on the website or in social media postings. As a silver tree sponsor, you take on the planting and care for five years for 2,500 euros, but you have to do without the plaque and press release. If you only want to finance the planting yourself, you can call yourself a bronze tree sponsor for 500 euros. Tree buddies are those from Linz who donate 150 euros and thus at least enable the standard care of an existing tree.

With the sponsorship model, the city of Linz wants to encourage its citizens to participate in the greening of the city. But it’s also about raising awareness and showing “how much commitment our city gardeners protect the Linz trees and constantly expand the stock,” says City Councilor Eva Schobesberger (Greens).
