For many years, the mountain sprint of the CLR Sauwald in Engelhartszell has been an integral part of the calendar of events for many cyclists. The athletes have to master ten kilometers with 442 meters of altitude difference. This year, the organizing club was able to celebrate a record starter field with 228 participants in several competitions. Hundreds of visitors cheered on the cyclists on their strenuous “ride” up to the Stadl district.

Andreas Wolfmayr from the RC Bike Next 125 club (Niederwaldkirchen) won the mountain bike classification, which partly runs off the asphalt road, in a time of 25 minutes and three seconds. He was followed by Hannes Kellhammer and Christoph Trausner. Holger Kasberger from the organizing club CLR Sauwald took fourth place.

Julia Auer won the women’s mountain bike ranking.

The main racing bike competition with 179 participants was eagerly awaited, especially since Rene Pammer set a new course record in the summer of 2022. A group of around 30 riders quickly pulled away. After a few attacks and increased speed, the favorite Christian Oberngruber (RC Bike Next 125) gave the competition few chances. With a time of 20 minutes, 55 seconds and an average speed of 28.6 km/h, Oberngruber won ahead of Lukas Enzenhofer and Matthias Gusner.

In the women’s category, last year’s winner Lena Lechl from CLR Sauwald was once again in a class of her own. Lechl clinched victory with a lead of more than four minutes on her teammate Lisa-Maria Kasberger.

Among the hand bikers, Mathias Kufleitner was the fastest ahead of Christoph Dieminger.
