“The Young Vikings’ victory is not undeserved,” said Sebastian Dietrich, sporting director of Union Gurten, after the 1-0 derby defeat in the Regionalliga Mitte on Saturday against the Young Vikings from Ried. Mateo Zetic scored the gold goal for the second team of SV Ried after a nice individual action.

In a hard-fought final phase, both teams missed some great chances. Julian Baumgartner, the captain of the Junge Vikings, was rightly sent off with a yellow card in added time, so the 29-year-old will miss his team’s away game against second-placed ASK Voitsberg next Friday.

The Gurtner, who started the season with three wins and three losses each, will welcome the current table leaders with the Wels game community on Friday. “An Upper Austria derby in front of a home crowd is something special. We’ll try everything to score,” said Dietrich.

4000 tickets have been sold

Around 4,000 tickets have now been sold for the hit Gurten vs. Rapid Cup on September 27 (8:30 p.m.) at the Klaus Roitinger Stadium in Ried, including 1,000 for Vienna fans. Tickets are available at union-gurten.at
