Problems at the start may have led to the fall of the man from the Rohrbach district on Wednesday afternoon. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. the glider tilted forward, probably due to turbulence. Rotation occurred and the athlete fell into steep terrain immediately after the runway. A witness informed the emergency services.

Together with the Red Cross, helpers from the Hofkirchen im Mühlkreis volunteer fire brigade took over the first aid, climbed down to the man who had come to rest on the steep terrain and prepared the evacuation with an emergency doctor. According to Florian Mairhofer, commander of the FF Hofkirchen, the helicopter was the most gentle for the patient.

The 26-year-old was flown to a Linz hospital with unspecified injuries.
