Uruguay continues to add national routes and recover the frequencies it had before the start of the pandemic in 2020. The new flight will begin from 31 October this year on Embraer E2 aircraft, which have the capacity to transport up to 136 passengers. According to the company statement, the takeoffs “will take place at noon from the capital of the state of Paraná, all Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday”, while the returns “are scheduled for the same days, departing from Uruguay at 3:10 p.m.”
In this sense, the commercial manager of Uruguay Airports, Matías Carlucciopointed out that “opening a new destination like Curitiba is great news for the Carrasco Airport and for our country. It is another example of Azul’s commitment to Uruguay, and a sign that the work that we do throughout the year between the public and private sectors to enhance national connectivity bears fruit.”

80% of pre-pandemic frequencies were recovered

The company is expected to take 4 international routes that will connect with direct flights to Montevideo with the cities of Brazil, Salvador de Bahía and Florianópolis, Santiago de Chili and Lima (Peru). According to estimates, next year SKY will transport more than 100,000 passengers between arrivals and departures from the country.
On the other hand, the minister highlighted that the country recovered 80% of the frequencies that operated in 2019 and had decreased during the pandemic of Covid-19. In this sense, he highlighted that the arrival of the Chilean firm “is very good, because it is a company that will provide very good service with low costs.”
