After being rescued from a dungeon in Ansfelden: the dog gave birth to eleven puppies

“It would be unimaginable if the dog Susi had had her babies just a few days earlier in the pitch-dark, covered-up torture cellar in Ansfelden,” says Pfotenhilfe boss Johanna Stadler. “After all her misfortunes, she was really doubly lucky.”

Pfotenhilfe took in nine dogs. Stadler immediately noticed Susi, who was emaciated to the bone: she was obviously pregnant and had large teats. Now the time had come: the approximately two-year-old female gave birth to eleven cubs.

The new mother and her puppies have been living with Stadler ever since. Because the bitch doesn’t have enough milk-producing teats, the puppies also have to be bottle-fed.

“It was only after the birth that I saw how extremely thin Susi really is,” says the head of Pfotenhilfe. Given the circumstances, the dog is doing well, eating and drinking a lot and guarding her young. “She now needs peace, safety, security and our full support,” says Stadler.
