The president of the ARU, Patricio Cortabarría, and the mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, highlighted the commitment of the agricultural sector in the face of the drought.

The 118th edition of the Expo Prado opened its doors this Friday the 8th and will run until Sunday September 17th every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., after the inaugural ribbon cutting, in which the president of the Rural Association of Uruguay (ARU), Patricio Cortabarría, in addition to national and municipal authorities.

Once the exhibition was inaugurated, minutes before the ribbon was cut, Cortabarría expressed with singular joy that “we see a Expo Prado overflowing with animals, first class, after a year with one of the worst droughts in history. This only emphasizes the culture of work that the Uruguayan countryside has and the commitment of rural producers to move forward.”

There were five previous venues for the exhibition, until the desired location was finalized. “That story of effort and improvement is still valid today,” said the union member.

In this context, the president of the union greeted “the entire rural population of this country” and invited them to live a new Expo Prado.

Carolina Cosse highlighted “twinning and mutual knowledge”

For her part, the mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse defined the Expo Prado as “an instance of twinning and deepening mutual knowledge between Uruguayans of different realities.”

I add that Montevideo It has a very important rural area, with 60% of its territory responsible for the production of more than 30% of pears, plums and apples consumed by the Uruguay, to which is added 50% of leafy vegetables.

In that sense, she said that this meeting could serve as “a pretext for Uruguayans from all sectors to unite in pursuit of that,” concluded the mayor of Montevideo.
