Shortly after 8 p.m., the Alkoven and Polsing fire departments were alerted to an operation in Straßham: “Explosion of a gas boiler in the basement with smoke being produced” was the report. The resident of a residential building restarted the thermal bath after a malfunction, whereupon flames shot out of the device and it began to smoke heavily.
After the first situation report, an all-clear was given: When we arrived, there was no fire or smoke visible. The gas measurements also gave negative values.
The emergency services took the system out of operation until it was inspected by a specialist service.
