Maldonado launched a program to boost micro and small businesses

Industrial micro and small businesses (MSEs) Maldonado They will be able to access a public-private program to “improve their billing, profitability and sustainability,” as specified by the Chamber of Industries of Uruguay (CIU).

The initiative Maldonado accelerates, driven by the CIU, in conjunction with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) and Inefop, In addition to the local Municipality, it will try to be “an experience designed according to the needs of the ventures from the department”, in a sector that reaches 99% of the firms.

This is a program aimed at Mypes of food and beverages interested in accelerating their growth. They must meet some requirements such as having more than six months of activity and less than 10 years old, in addition to being installed in the department of Maldonado.

According to reports, a committee made up of the executing institutions will select 15 companies in this first edition, for which interested parties can register until September 20 on the website of Promotes Industry.

Those who are chosen will go through a diagnosis, the design of an action plan, training in various areas, technical assistance linked to productive aspects and business management, until finally they will be accompanied in the connection with support instruments available in the ecosystem.

The objective is “to grow, generate employment and wealth”

Carola Saavedra, director of Impulsa Industria, reviewed that the national industrial sector is made up of 17,000 companies, of which 99% are MSMEs. “We understand that they are a fundamental part of the development of the national industry. That is why we work with support services so that they grow, generate employment and wealth,” he explained.

In turn, the mayor of the Municipality of Maldonado, Andrés Rapetti, considered that the initiative “means taking another step” in the support, promotion and consolidation of micro and small businesses in the department.

From the National Directorate of Crafts, Small and Medium Enterprises (Dinapyme), the director Ana Inés Antía valued the implementation of the program from a comprehensive approach, which includes technical assistance and training, among other services.

Meanwhile, the director of Inefop, Pablo Darscht, He highlighted that the objective is “to be productive for entrepreneurs, micro and small industrial companies that participate, allowing them to improve their turnover, profitability and sustainability.”
