Music has been an integral part of the life of the three sisters Stefanie, Christina and Magdalena Poxrucker from the community of St. Ulrich in the Mühlviertel since they were children. But neither are the Poxrucker Sisters from the Austrian music scene: they have now become a permanent fixture in the industry and have been delighting their audiences with dialect pop from Austria for more than ten years.
There has always been singing and playing in the Poxrucker house, but in 2006 the three sisters decided to perform at a local evening in Ortisei. That was the foundation for the Poxrucker Sisters. In 2013 the first single “Take something with you” was released. Since then, the Mühlviertel girls have been delighting audiences across the country with their distinctive three-part dialect pop. Another of their trademarks: they always appear barefoot.
On their current anniversary tour they are also making a stop in the Innviertel – the Kiwanis Club Braunau has invited the Poxrucker Sisters: On Friday, September 29th, at 7:30 p.m., they will play in the event center (Salzburger Straße 29b). 100 percent of the net proceeds from the concert evening will benefit Lebenshilfe Braunau. Visitors can also expect another musical treat on this charity evening: the newcomer band “Fräulein Peter” will open the concert evening.

Three questions for… Stefanie Poxrucker
Have you ever been to Braunau?
We Poxrucker Sisters had some of our most beautiful concerts in the Innviertel. Of course, our performances at the Woodstock of the brass band will never be forgotten. We have also been guests in Braunau and we were really impressed at our first concert because we had a really nice time in fantastic weather. In general, the atmosphere in the Innviertel is always great.
You have also been work colleagues for ten years. Where do you draw the boundaries in your intertwined lives as three sisters?
We have professionalized our music project, so to speak. Tasks were distributed, boundaries were set and, above all, we made sure that we consciously separated work and family time. We had never planned this path and learned and worked on a lot independently. We are our own bosses, and it is all the more important that we give ourselves and each other breaks. Of course we are always the Poxrucker Sisters, whether on stage or in private, but it’s a good thing if we don’t discuss any appointment requests at the family breakfast.
What direction should you take musically in the next few years?The three of us are always spinning ideas, new songs are being written, events are being planned and that’s why we never get bored. This year we have also put out feelers towards Bavaria – and we are looking forward to what is to come. Next year will still be quieter. On the one hand, we’re really traveling a lot this year, and on the other hand, we’re starting 2024 with a maternity break. That’s why the next concerts are even more special for us because we know: There will definitely be a break and we will miss making music in front of an audience.
