After a week without progress in the negotiations or changes in the Player Statute that the footballers’ union demands, both the First as the Second division football will continue without activities, maintaining the force measures that prevent the development of the competition since last Thursday; and that they are a response to 22 months without concrete achievements in the talks Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) around salary improvement.

With this decision, the fourth date of the Closing Tournament of the First Division and the sixteenth of the regular phase of the Second Division – which were to be played on the weekend of September 9 and 10 – are postponed for at least one more week.

Meetings without progress

Meanwhile, yesterday a meeting was held of the club commission that is working on the new Statute of footballers, who make up Liverpool, Nacional, Peñarol, Deportivo Maldonado, Danubio, Oriental, Atenas, Progress and Powerbut there was no progress.

For its part, the Union of Clubs issued a statement in which it raises six points to reach a quick solution to the issue and proposes that the agreement be made between the clubs and the MUFP, without the participation of the president of the AUF, Ignacio Alonso; and that the agreement is signed between Mutual, the AUF and the Uruguayan Professional Soccer League —Until now, all agreements were signed between the union and the association.

The objective is to achieve a solution that allows both categories of the Uruguayan Championship They can return on Saturday the 23rd. However, the clubs hope that the players will lift the forceful measures to negotiate again.
