The Skoda driver and his co Gerald Winter won the last race of the season on Sunday in Krumbach, Lower Austria, 5.2 seconds ahead of his brand colleagues and challengers Hermann Neubauer/Ursula Mayrhofer and thus secured his third championship in a row.
“I really pushed it again on the last special stage. But I also have to thank Hermann for the really great fight he gave us all year long. That’s exactly what our sport needs,” Wagner explained happily . As part of the race, the Finnish World Championship driver Teemu Suninen carried out test drives and, as expected, drove away from the rest of the starting field.
