The UTC Casa Moda Steyr is celebrating its 50th anniversary next weekend with a real tournament series. The highlight of the sporting festivities will be the “Painting & Facades 5 Nations Cup” on Saturday. Players from five countries will play in eight teams for the winner’s prize money of 1,000 euros.
UTC Steyr’s sports director Stefan Minichberger can also welcome some old friends to this event. Among others, the Spaniard Enrique Lopez Perez, who played for the UTC in the 1st Tennis Bundesliga for several years, will be swinging the racket at the anniversary tournament. The Argentinian Marco Trungelliti, who has already reached the third round at the French Open, has also announced his coming. “We are still working on some top-class players. Visitors to the UTC facility are definitely guaranteed top-class tennis with free entry,” says Minichberger. The tournament starts at 10:30 a.m.
In addition to the top event, UTC legends will also be on display at the facility in Gleink for the anniversary. The club played in what was then the State League B for several years in the 1980s and won a total of six national championship titles with the team. The Steyrians have been represented in the 1st Tennis Bundesliga without interruption for 13 years. “We have invited the most important players in UTC history and we are pleased that many of them will be playing on Saturday,” says Minichberger.
