The police were called late on Saturday evening – a drunk driver was making the streets of Aurolzmünster unsafe. Two patrol cars were able to stop the driver around 9:30 p.m. However, he did not cooperate with the officers, but urinated against a house wall in front of them and insulted them in the process. A check revealed that the man did not have a valid driver’s license. He refused an alcohol test. The 60-year-old was then forbidden to continue driving and the vehicle key was taken away.

Around 45 minutes later, a police patrol discovered that the 60-year-old’s parked car was no longer at the stop location – a large-scale manhunt was launched. The vehicle we were looking for was finally spotted again along the B 141 in the direction of Braunau. The drunk man ignored clear signs to stop.

Chase through Aurolzmünster

The subsequent chase continued into the Aurolzmünster area, where the driver was finally surrounded by three police patrols, stopped and, according to the police, pulled out of the vehicle “using physical force”. This time he agreed to the alcohol test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 1.44. His second vehicle key was also confiscated.

The 60-year-old man is reported several times, including for driving without a license, drunk driving and resisting state authority.
