On Sunday afternoon, the boy’s mother drove the cows into the stable on the family farm along a gravel path. The 8-year-old stood next to her. When a cow came by, the child wanted to pet it. However, the animal jumped into the air and knocked the boy down. He came to rest under the cow and was kicked again by her.
The 8-year-old was able to go into the house himself, where he was cared for by his mother and paramedics. A rescue helicopter then flew the injured boy to the Amstetten State Hospital.
