At its most recent meeting, the Vöcklabruck local council decided to convert all street lights to LED technology. “We save 300,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year,” says Mayor Peter Schobesberger. “That’s ten percent of our total consumption.” But the municipality will also save around 20,000 euros per year on maintenance in the future. The new lamps also cause less light pollution and are therefore more insect-friendly.
