The 45-year-old was under strong suspicion of having killed the man with a kitchen knife. The crime is said to have occurred during an argument in the suspect’s apartment. The local was arrested. During questioning on Tuesday afternoon, he initially refused to make a statement.
Motive remains unclear
The motive of the suspect, who was apparently under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, remained unclear for the time being, said a spokesman for the State Criminal Police Office. The 45-year-old is scheduled to be questioned again on Wednesday. A report will also be sent to the public prosecutor. The accused was initially in the police detention center in Innsbruck.
An autopsy confirmed death from a stab wound or a knife attack on the neck, it said. No results were yet available regarding the influence of intoxicants. Here we had to wait for a toxicological examination.

According to the LKA, the alleged perpetrator, who was found by the police in his apartment, and the victim had previously known each other. In contrast to the suspect, the 54-year-old was not based in Fieberbrunn. Both were also known to the police.
Parents alerted the rescue team
According to the deputy head of the Tyrolean State Criminal Police Office, Gert Hofmann, the suspect’s parents alerted the rescue team. They had previously checked on the apartment after their son failed to show up for work. There they found the lifeless man and their son. The police became aware of the operation via the first responder app and were at the scene before the rescue.
