For a 72-year-old, a hike on the holiday ended in the hospital: The Kirchdorf woman was walking with a companion on the marked trail from the 1,262-meter-high Mittagsstein towards Pfannstein on the municipal border between Grünau im Almtal and Steinbach am Ziehberg when the accident occurred came. The woman slipped on a root halfway not far from the Hollerberg (1279 m) and fell so badly that she injured her right ankle and suffered a circulatory collapse. Her companion started the rescue chain.

The Grünau mountain rescue service arrived with 16 men, and the C10 emergency medical helicopter from Linz was also alerted. The injured person was rescued from the steep forest using a rope rescue and then flown to the hospital in Kirchdorf, the mountain rescue service announced on Wednesday afternoon.
