The social welfare associations as sponsors of retirement homes are facing major challenges: the population is aging, baby boomers are reaching nursing age, and the peak of the wave is expected in retirement homes between 2030 and 2040. At the same time, the nursing shortage is affecting the system. Its ability to finance and meet needs could reach its limits in the coming years.
In the Vöcklabruck district, the social welfare association has therefore set up the ZIVA (Future, Innovation, Vision, Elderly Care) working group. 16 home managers and nursing service managers as well as administrative employees met these days to exchange information, identify challenges and implement solutions at the district level. This involved the joint procurement of goods, cooperation in personnel management or cost accounting. This is not only intended to increase savings potential, it is also about ensuring the quality of care.
In the Vöcklabruck social welfare association, all 52 communities are mandatory members. The association, whose tasks are stipulated by law, has an annual budget of 120 million euros.
