In the truest sense of the word, a man from the Amstetten district got on the saddle of his bike on Wednesday evening: The 51-year-old was on All Saints’ Day around 9 p.m. in the municipality of Enns (Linz-Land district) on the Schloßgasse towards Reintalgasse, when he lost control of his bike. He left the road near a parking lot, fell onto the grass verge and came to rest on the sidewalk.
A 26-year-old pedestrian became the injured man’s rescuer: he found the cyclist, provided first aid and alerted the emergency services. The 51-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. An alcohol test showed a level of 1.8 per mille, the police said on Thursday.
