The 92-year-old from Linz was on the Turmweg from Pöstlingberg towards Puchenau on Thursday. In the area of the connecting wall, below the so-called Fifteen Tower, the pensioner went about 80 meters off the path in the forest around 5:15 p.m. as darkness fell. The 92-year-old was unable to go forward or back in the steep area, which is why the man alerted the emergency services with his cell phone.
A police patrol and a fireman from Puchenau went in search of the lost hiker. After around an hour and a half he was discovered in a steeply sloping forest, near the connecting wall. He was obviously exhausted but uninjured. Nevertheless, the 92-year-old was taken to hospital by the rescue team for a check-up.
