The supervisory board of the Linz-based steel and technology group decided and announced this today, Friday. Mayer’s term of office runs for three years. “We are pleased that we have succeeded in attracting a very experienced and competent CFO in Gerald Mayer. He comes to voestalpine in turbulent times. The switch to green steel production while consistently continuing our technology-oriented downstream strategy is associated with enormous challenges.” says Wolfgang Eder, Chairman of the voestalpine Supervisory Board.
“I am very pleased to be able to help strategically shape voestalpine AG in my new role as CFO from April and thus also to advance major issues such as sustainability and decarbonization of steel production. voestalpine has been in an excellent financial position in recent years and has achieved outstanding results “I would like to successfully continue this path with Herbert Eibensteiner and the management team, even in economically more difficult times,” Mayer is quoted as saying in the broadcast.
The 52-year-old business economist started his career as a tax consultant at Icon. This was followed by various management positions at VA Tech. In 2007, Mayer moved to the Innviertel aluminum group Amag. He had been CFO there since 2007 and became CEO in 2019. Mayer is married and has three children.
