The Upper Austrians stick together – this has been shown by the OÖN Christkindl campaign for 59 years. Upper Austrians in need can also rely on the support of the Landestheater Linz every year. This year, the operetta “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss will be playing on November 25th, bringing money into the coffers of the music theater for people in need in the state – the net proceeds will be donated to the OÖN Christkindl campaign.
Thomas Enzinger stages the well-known operetta in which everyone involved pretends to be someone else: Gabriel von Eisenstein celebrates extensively at Prince Orlofsky’s lavish ball before he has to go to prison. The maid Adele is also a guest. Meanwhile, Gabriel’s wife Rosalinde is eagerly awaiting her lover Alfred at home. However, he is mistaken for Gabriel and has to go to prison instead of him. So Rosalinde goes to the ball – which is actually Doctor Falke’s revenge plan against Gabriel von Eisenstein.

In the end, the confusion is blamed on the champagne and the protagonists forgive each other for everything that happened that evening. An entertaining evening of operettas all about humanity.
Christmas gala in the Schauspielhaus
Every year the OÖN Christmas Gala takes place in the Schauspielhaus, the net proceeds of which also benefit the relief campaign. On Thursday, December 14th, the time has come: a varied evening of charity and culture awaits viewers in Linz. For example, the piece “Santa Desperately Wanted”, in which the numerous young talents from the Puchenau Musical Academy help Santa Claus to find his memory again. The Landestheater’s “Tanz Linz” ensemble will present an excerpt from the current production “Romeo & Juliet”. The Blech Brass Brothers welcome the audience and can then be admired on stage.
Also appearing on stage is singer Chanda Rule, whose impressive voice is deeply rooted in gospel. Andie Gabauer also dedicates his guitar to the good cause of the OÖN Christmas Gala. The Goaßlschnalzer from Munderfing and “Hard Choir Next Generation” with 40 young people complete the Christkindlgala program.
No matter how different the ideas may be, the participants have one thing in common: they waive their fees and thus send a valuable sign of solidarity. (kos)
