“As a music club, we are always looking for talented young musicians. It is important to us to support them in the best possible way,” says Oepping’s music club chairman Robert Hoffmann. In this respect, the Oeppingen musicians were very pleased that a wind instrument class could be set up in the newly renovated elementary school. The first Oeppingen wind instrument class started with eleven children at the start of school. This consists of children who all learn an instrument – drums, wood or brass, it doesn’t matter.
These children then have lessons on this instrument twice a week. On the one hand, in elementary school, music is played together with the other children as an additional teaching unit. Here, the children learn right from the start how much fun and joy making music together can bring, which is essentially anchored in the DNA of every music club. Particular attention is paid to ensuring that the level is appropriate so that the children do not feel under-challenged or overwhelmed. And after diligent rehearsals and practice, the first small concert is played for the parents at Christmas. Another hour is completed in the music school. All children who attend a wind class are then guaranteed a place in the music school. The costs are spread across many shoulders and borne by the music club, the parents and also the state music school organization.
The chairman says: “If the children enjoy practicing and making music together, the time required is relative anyway. As a music club, we can only thank everyone involved who made this project possible. We wish the children a lot of fun and joy in making music . Of course we hope that we will be able to welcome many of them to our ranks soon.”
