Shock for a 55-year-old from the Urfahr area: While the memories of the fatal bite attack on a jogger in Naarn (Perg district) are still fresh in her mind, she was also attacked by a dog while jogging in Eidenberg (Mühlviertel). attacked.
On Monday around 4:30 p.m. she was out running when the German Shepherd, who, according to initial findings, had been running around freely in a field and then running back to his 69-year-old owner, suddenly charged at the woman as she walked past and bit into her forearm.

The jogger was able to shake off the dog and called for help. The shocked dog owner alerted the rescue team, who took the jogger to the hospital after first aid from the emergency doctor.
Eidenberg’s mayor Adolf Hinterhölzl (ÖVP) reacts angrily. The dog has already become conspicuous several times, this is the third incident – all this year. And they followed a certain pattern that suggested training. Nevertheless, the community has little control: “We have already done what is possible,” said the local leader. “But it’s legally difficult to deal with this because there are so many loopholes for dog owners. But we did what we could do. Now it’s the district administration’s turn,” says the mayor.
He can’t say at the moment what will happen to the dog or whether it will be taken away. “At least from our side we did everything we could to achieve it.”

What does he think it takes? “Regardless of this case, we need someone to check the mental and physical condition of dog owners,” says the local boss. There are too many cases in which dog owners are physically unable or no longer able to keep dogs such as German shepherds or Rottweilers under control when they run away.
