After the warning strikes in the metal industry at the beginning of the week, an agreement should now be reached – or the strikes will be expanded, as the unions have already announced.

The employee representatives from PRO-GE and GPA continue to insist on a wage and salary increase of 11.6 percent. The employers made two offers: The first offered a plus of ten percent – divided over two years – plus two one-off payments of 750 euros. The other offer offered an average wage and salary increase of 8.42 percent. This consists of an increase in fees of 2.5 percent plus a monthly fixed amount of 100 euros. There would also be a one-off payment of 1,050 euros.

The unions described the employers’ proposals as “voodoo mathematics” with pitfalls and then ended the fourth round of negotiations on Thursday last week.
