The victim has died after a teenager shot a classmate in the southern German city of Offenburg. The minor died of his serious injuries in hospital, the police and public prosecutor’s office in the Baden-Württemberg city said on Thursday. The suspected perpetrator, who was the same age, was taken into custody on Thursday evening. The investigators assume a “personal motive” for the crime.

According to police, around 180 students were taken out of school. The young people were looked after by trained staff and were then able to go to their parents, the police said. Offenburg is located in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
