Los Angeles-based guitarist and music producer Markus Illko was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Arrangement Instrumental category on Saturday night.

The nomination for the Styrian, who was born in 1981, “did not come by chance, but in recognition of his remarkable collaboration with the renowned guitarist Tommy Emmanuel and John Carter Cash, Johnny Cash’s son,” it was said yesterday.

The musicians have created a reinterpreted version of the Cash classic “Folsom Prison Blues”. “To ensure maximum authenticity, Illko had the exceptional opportunity to play Johnny Cash’s personal guitar, a 1930s Martin, during the recording session in Nashville.” Additionally, they used Luther Perkins’ 1955 Fender Esquire, the same guitar he played on the original recording of “Folsom Prison Blues.”
