According to police spokesman Markus Dittrich, the emergency services were alerted at around 9:45 p.m. The couple may have turned heavily to alcohol. For unknown reasons, the man beat and choked his girlfriend. She sustained, among other things, a broken cheekbone, other facial injuries and strangulation marks.
The Slovakian citizen was arrested in his apartment by officers from the Fiakerplatz police station. The officers also imposed a ban on him from entering or approaching him. An alcohol test on the suspect showed 2.6 per mille. His partner received medical treatment and was taken to a hospital. She stated that her boyfriend had become aggressive since his father’s death.
