While the fighting in the Gaza Strip continues in earnest, a possible post-war order is being debated in Israel. It may “no vacuum” Israel’s President Yitzhak Herzog said in an interview with the “Financial Times”. According to its own statements, the Israeli army also attacked the house of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in the Gaza Strip. The building was used as a terror infrastructure and often served as a meeting place for senior Hamas leaders, the Israeli military said.
Netanyahu under pressure
Israeli opposition leader Jair Lapid has called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down. Netanyahu’s Likud, the largest party, should elect a new prime minister and we will get to work together, Lapid wrote yesterday on the X platform, formerly Twitter. “The time has come – we need a national government of reconstruction.”
The Likud party rejected Lapid’s statements. She accused him of seeking a government that would build a Palestinian state.
