There is already a lot of construction work going on next to the active meeting place in Untergaumberg. A new childcare facility will be built there – for three playroom and two kindergarten groups.
Today, Friday, the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place, led by Leonding Mayor Sabine Naderer-Jelinek.
The new building is scheduled to open in autumn 2024. “We are hoping for a mild winter so that the work can progress well”said Naderer-Jelinek, given the sporting schedule.
A slide into the garden
The project, funded by the state and federal government, costs 4.6 million euros and is special not only because of the slide that leads from the house directly into the garden. “We want to encourage and promote exchange between young and old and will do so for the first time with this building”, emphasized Naderer-Jelinek. Special occasions such as Mother’s Day will be celebrated across generations here in Untergaumberg in the future.
State Councilor Michael Lindner (SP) spoke of one today “exhibit”. Like Wolfgang Stanek, member of the state parliament and VP district party chairman, he also emphasized that it is important, especially in economically difficult times, for the public sector to invest in the construction industry. Savonarola Baumanagement GmbH and Traussner Bau GmbH are responsible for the project. The choice of location was preceded by a city planning analysis, which showed that there was a need in Untergaumberg, said Naderer-Jelinek.
There are currently no play areas here, but in principle this childcare facility is interesting for families from all over Leonding due to its proximity to the tram.
The search for staff – six teachers are needed for the location alone – is already underway. Given the tense personnel situation, this is definitely a demanding undertaking.
