“After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I have decided to quit smoking. Please respect my privacy at this time,” the musician said on his online platforms on Thursday. It was not immediately clear from the announcement whether he meant smoking in general or specifically pot smoking.
Fans of the Californian rap superstar, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, reacted skeptically to the online posts. Some wrote that the 52-year-old was just joking, others speculated that their idol had serious health problems.
Snoop Dogg’s fame dates back to the early 1990s. At that time, the musician stormed with his song from the rap great Dr. Dre produced his solo debut album “Doggystyle” which hit the charts. Snoop Dogg sold millions of albums worldwide and scored countless hits such as “Gin & Juice” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot”.
