Margareta and Josef Walch celebrated a special kind of marriage anniversary these days with their 70th wedding anniversary: the so-called “Grace wedding”. Their marriage produced four children, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In excellent mental health, the two spend their everyday lives together with three other generations on the Katzenschläger farm in Wörgersdorf. Seven decades is a period of time in which life at the court has changed significantly. “There were hardly any cars at our wedding on October 27, 1953. Our wedding procession still consisted mainly of horse-drawn carts”the couple told their well-wishers.
The lives of Margareta and Josef Walch were characterized by hard work and the joy of farming, which is now run by their grandson and his family. The proud great-grandparents, who were also involved in society, are pleased that a fourth generation, with three great-grandchildren, is already living in the house: Margareta was the first local farmer in Pregartn, Josef was politically active as a community leader and farmers’ association chairman from 1973 to 1991. In 1992, he was awarded the Gold Ring of Honor from the municipality of Pregarten for his achievements.
