The man sped away through the city at around 100 kilometers per hour, and all three car occupants ultimately fled on foot into a forest. The two passengers got lost and called emergency services, the police said. The driver was reported.
The trio was out in the city around 11:15 p.m. The 20-year-old from Villa was behind the wheel. The car was noticed by a patrol because the exhaust noise was too loud. The police officers wanted to check the driver and the vehicle details and gave the 20-year-old a sign to stop, but the man stepped on the accelerator and drove away at 100 km/h in the direction of Kreuzbergl.
At the end of a dead end he had to stop the car, jumped out and ran away into a forest – as did his passengers, a 29-year-old from Villach and a 17-year-old from the Villach/Land district. However, the two lost sight of the 20-year-old and ultimately had to call 911. A patrol found the two.
When the vehicle was left behind, the officers discovered that the car was not registered and that someone else’s license plates were mounted.
