Combination: Second place for Lamparter in Lillehammer

The double world champion in Nordic combined, who was second after the jump, held this position consistently on the 10 km trail. Jarl-Magnus Riiber from Norway, who was leading after the jumping, was once again in a class of his own and could no longer be overtaken. He won after 25: 40.1 minutes, 13.5 seconds ahead of Lamparter.

“I’m very happy with today. I had an impeccable jump. And I had great material today and felt so good. I was able to catch up with Jarl for a few seconds. That confirms that I’m in very good shape “stated the 20-year-old Tyrolean.

Nevertheless, Riiber was never in danger of being overtaken by Lamparter. “Of course he does it playfully. But I do believe that I was able to put him under a bit of pressure today,” said Lamparter. “I am very happy, it can go on like this in any case.” In the direction of the Olympics, however, he still identified “a little bit of reserves”.

There was nothing to complain about for Seidl either. “I’m very satisfied with the competition today. I’ve already done a casual job on the hill.” He tried to run his own race on the trail, especially since Lamparter had started at a high speed. “I didn’t let that get me out of there.” He wanted to run with the catching up Frenzel and Ofetbro as long as possible and “that worked out well”. “I’m really very positively surprised by myself, my running form is getting better and better.”

The aforementioned German Eric Frenzel (+ 45.6) came third, Oftebro fourth. For Seidl it was his second top 5 placement in the Olympic winter. He crossed the finish line in fifth, 56.1 seconds behind. The third best ÖSV man was team sprint world champion Lukas Greiderer as 15th.

Riiber has already won his 39th World Cup and has the yellow jersey firmly under control again after a very short interlude. The Norsker had this from November 24, 2018 to November 27 of this year for three years without interruption.

The day before Austria’s men had only finished fourth in the team competition, but head coach Christoph Eugen had not brought Greiderer or Seidl into the team. Both were still a bit battered and were spared for the individual competition.

In the overall standings, Eugen is now also runner-up with 272 points, just 28 points behind Riiber, who is already three-time winner of the season. Greiderer and Seidl follow on the overall ranks seven and eight.
