A Hague family with three children, 10, 12 and 14 years old, had a lucky break on Thursday night. Shortly after midnight, a neighbor called the fire department because he saw flames coming from one of the lower windows. The residents of the house were already asleep. The 34-year-old father woke up shortly afterwards and noticed the smell of smoke. He woke up his 33-year-old wife and three children – everyone was able to get outside safely into the garden.
50 firefighters extinguished the fire in slippery conditions and freezing rain
After arriving, the FF Haag am Hausruck requested reinforcements from the Weibern fire department. Part of the wooden ceiling had to be removed with a chainsaw, the Haag fire department reported. 50 firefighters and women with seven vehicles were on duty. Black ice and freezing rain made extinguishing work difficult.

The fire ended lightly for the five residents: They were uninjured and were taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.
The cause of the fire is currently unclear, but a fire expert has been called. The investigation is ongoing.
