What was this flight maneuver all about? This was the question asked by several readers who captured their unusual observation photographically and sent it to the OÖNachrichten. On Monday, numerous posters also puzzled over the background to the “LifeRadio” Facebook post.

One user guessed a “romantic marriage proposal”. Angels had broken in their ice skates, another joked. There were also pragmatists among the commentators: “There’s a roundabout up there too and he was the first to stick to it,” is the – not entirely serious – speculation.
In fact, there is no profound message behind the flight maneuver. “It was probably a training flight in which two full circles were flown,” said Peter Schmidt, spokesman for Austro Control, which is responsible for safety in Austrian airspace, on Monday in response to an OÖN query.
