Mayor Herbert Schönberger (VP) anticipated it at the opening: The work of art is something new for the small village community and of course is not always immediately understood. Nevertheless, it is important to accept changes.
A house in St. Konrad has been weathering for almost two weeks now. It is actually a mesh made of wooden slats that artist Herbert Egger designed. The only inhabitants are said to be plants and animals.
The idea behind it is simple: Wherever humans spread, nature has to give way or change. Things are different this time – but not completely. Citizens should decide on the continued existence of the “Global Home”, an initiative of the Capital of Culture. In St. Konrad, a decision is made as to whether and at what level of weathering the sculpture should be removed. She’s still standing.
